Hays is in his first season at HDI after spending the last decade on the sidelines within D1 college basketball. Most recently, he was an assistant coach at Sacramento State for three years, where he served as the defensive coordinator, director of analytics, and director of scheduling. Prior to Sac State, Hays spent three seasons at the University of Arkansas as Special Assistant to the Head Coach and Director of Analytics. During his Razorback tenure, Hays led the program's analysis of on-court performance and recruiting evaluation to help the program reach two Elite 8's. Hays began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at the University of Nevada, Reno, where he was a part of three conference championship seasons. Hays completed his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University in 2016 where he was a student manager for the men's basketball program.
