James joins HD Intelligence after 13 years of experience coaching college basketball. He most recently served as the Director of Scouting and Analytics at Langston University, where the team finished as the national runner-up in 2026.
Prior to Langston, James coached at the University of Central Missouri and Moberly Area Community College, serving as associate head coach at Moberly and helping lead the team to two national tournament appearances in three years.
He earned a master’s in Education in Athletic Administration from William Woods University after completing his bachelor’s degree in Sports Marketing and Finance at Westminster College. At HDI, Hays combines his coaching background with his experience in scouting and analytics to support our clients.
