Julian is in his fifth season with the HDI team, earning a promotion as the Director of Basketball Analysis ahead of the 2026-27 campaign where he will lead our team training, quality control, and standardization while working with our Product Team to keep us on the cutting edge with our services and deliverables.
Originally from Germany, he worked as a special advisor on analytics for two professional (Bundesliga) clubs, Basketball Löwen Braunschweig & Medi Bayreuth. In those roles, he focused on providing in-depth lineup analyses and creating detailed single-game and trend reports comprising various advanced metrics. He also fully integrated this work with video, generating exactly those statistics that were of the most value to coaches.
Julian also worked one season as the Assistant Coach of an under-19 Bundesliga team, BG Göttingen, where he gained valuable experience on the sidelines and was responsible for scouting of opponents, breaking down game film, and conducting individual workouts to foster player development.
After earning his master’s degrees in Economics from Kiel University, Julian also worked as research associate at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, where he specialized in firm-level analysis of innovation and internationalization.
